MESSAGE FROM THE GOGOLA BROTHERS

Last year, we dropped our dating app horror short “115”. Now we’re making our first feature, also a horror film, called “Iris Is Your Friend”.

The film is a hypnotist horror film about Iris, an 18-year-old girl who moves to a new country with her mother who has gotten a new job. Iris, however, struggles to blend in and soon falls victim to bullying by the “popular girl” in class, Vendela, and her friends. One day, Iris finds an ancient book on hypnotism, the Obscuramentis, and decides to take revenge by hypnotizing Vendela’s friends into becoming her own friends. Little by little, Iris creates a world for herself where everyone loves Iris and everyone hates Vendela. When Vendela finds out about the book, Iris—who is now strangely possessed by the dark powers of the book—is pushed to extreme measures to keep her secret.

Our main inspiration are old horror movies from the 1950s to the 1970s. Since we love the analog feel, we’re going to shoot the film on 16mm film. We’re also inspired by chopped-and-screwed hip-hop music, Suicideboys and Japanese horror manga.

The image above is one of the concept photos that was taken in March (by photographer Edvin Karlsson). We have written a script and have begun the process of finding investors and collaborators to make the film. We will soon release more concept photos, a presentation video, and more.
